The Need for Platelets Never Takes a Holiday

Welcome to the Platelet Advantage, a program designed to recognize your thoughtfulness as a platelet donor. Cancer patients and others with bleeding disorders need platelets every day-including weekends and holidays. Your frequent platelet donations make this possible.

How Does the Platelet Advantage Work?

Each time you save lives by making a platelet donation you'll earn 100 Platelet Advantage points, redeemable for a wide variety of gifts. You can also earn additional points each time you donate:

• 50 additional points for a double platelet donation
• 100 additional points a triple platelet donation
• 50 additional points for a double platelet/red cell donation
• 50 additional points for a platelet/plasma donation
• 25 additional points for a platelet/red cell donation
• 50 additional points for platelet donations during the following designated "critical periods"
• December 20,2007-January 10,2008
• March 20-25, 2008
• May 22-28,2008
• June 28-July 9,2008
• August 28-September 8,2008
• November 26-December 1,2008
• December 19,2008-January 11,2009
• Additional dates may be added when necessary to meet patient needs.

A minimum of 400 points is required for gift redemption. Gifts are tiered based on your accumulated point total. You'll see a wide array of gifts at each tier. You may redeem all or some points as you wish. You can even donate your points back to New York Blood Center. Platelet Advantage points are not transferable and are not redeemable for cash.

Here's the fine print...

The Platelet Advantage offers generous gifts for your active participation as a platelet donor.You will retain all your earned points if you:

• Make at least one platelet donation attempt every 90 days or
• Have made two platelet donations in the past 180 days or
• Have redeemed Platelet Advantage points in the past 90 days.

If you do not meet these requirements in the time periods specified you will forfeit 100 Platelet Advantage points. These requirements will be waived while any donor is temporarily or permanently deferred from donating.
